I'm Sprite. Actually, my name is Lisa, but people call me Sprite. ;) I live in a suburb‘ish borough of New York. I have 5 cats, a frog, a big fish...and a little fish. I love science and nature and all of its creatures. I'm 27 and am a self taught creator. I've studied human and animal anatomy, I love drawing, writing, painting (murals), graphic arts, sculpting and learning new things to name a few...;) I've spent much of my life, so far, experimenting with different mediums in search of finding one that allowed me to really express this mysterious world that lives inside my heart...and my head. For as long as I can remember I loved drawing. As a little girl I drew horses and unicorns; made homemade paper dolls. I adored painting on walls, but drawing on them was fascinating... I could see these little faces and forms within the texture and used pencils to bring them out. Growing up I was always drawing, it was my greatest escape, and. it was all mine. ;) One day these creatures started appearing on the paper out of nowhere. I wasn't sure where they were coming from, but I couldn't stop them from existing. There were dragons and sprites, winged ladies and lizards...oh my! I would fill page after page, book after book and put them away where no one would see them. I’ve always been very quiet that way. It was hard to visualize how something that was such a part of me, that I had never intended to be "perfect", would be viewed through someone else's eyes; I couldn't imagine that anyone would possibly see them as I did. (Hey, I have never said I wasn't strange!) Many years ago I stumbled onto polymer, I experimented with it briefly and really enjoyed it but I didn't stick with it for very long. A few years later I picked it up again and these little creatures were coming out, it was wonderful, but it was only for a short time. I was easily distracted and very easily discouraged. This group of caring, talented, and wonderful artists has taught me so much; they are a great part of my life and my daily inspiration. It as been about 2 years now that I have really discovered polymer clay, most of this time I've spent researching and learning and now finally creating. I'm dedicated now and addicted! I think I've found what i was searching for... I can combine all of the things I've learned and enjoyed all of these years, into each piece. I still adore each medium separately, but there is just something about being able to hold something you have envisioned for so long in 3D form that is just too neat! I'm looking forward to sharing this little world I have kept my secret for so long. I hope to capture these beings, as real as I have seen them and hope you will enjoy them as much as i have. Thank you so much for taking a moment to stop by and learn a little about me. Please come back often to see our progress, what we are working on and to meet some of our new members. :) Have a superfantastic, wonderful day! The greatest creations are those that as you create them, you get lost in your thoughts, by the time you're tired of thinking you're holding in your hands, something from deep within. *Sprite* |
